We built a native iPhone app that records and transcribes medical appointments, creates plain-language summaries and action items, organizes medications, flags potential interactions, and helps patients prepare questions for future visits. Patients can leave appointments with a reliable record, clearer next steps, and better preparation for the next conversation with their care team.
The Patient Experience Challenge
Cancer appointments often contain more information than a patient or caregiver can reasonably absorb in the moment. Instructions, medication changes, follow-up steps, and unfamiliar terminology may be delivered while the patient is physically exhausted or emotionally overwhelmed. Patients may leave a medical appointment with only a partial memory of what was discussed. Between visits, they may struggle to recall exact instructions, track changes to medications, or remember the questions they intended to ask. As the care journey becomes more complex, scattered notes and memory become increasingly unreliable.
The Sky Companion App travels through the care journey with the patient. During an appointment, the app can record and transcribe the discussion. It then organizes the content into a more accessible summary and identifies actionable next steps. Medication information is kept together, and a question library allows patients or caregivers to capture concerns as they arise rather than trying to remember them later.
