Industrial Supplier in Metro Detroit

Company identity withheld under a confidentiality agreement.
TL;DR

We rebuilt the storefront and automated the fulfillment process so the company could grow monthly order volume without growing administrative headcount. Monthly capacity increased from approximately 200 orders handled by five people to 500 orders handled by one person, while manual entry dropped by approximately 80%.

MEASURABLE RESULTS
  • 2.5× monthly order capacity
  • Approximately 80% less manual entry
  • 500 orders per month managed by one person
  • No additional fulfillment headcount required to reach the new volume

The Business

The client is a family-run industrial supplier based in Metro Detroit, serving customers across the country.

The Growth Constraint

Orders arrived through email, phone calls, and a difficult online storefront. Employees then re-entered those orders by hand before fulfillment could begin. At approximately 200 orders per month, five people were already involved in keeping the process moving. Increasing sales would have required increasing administrative labor at nearly the same pace. The company did not have a demand problem. It had a capacity problem.

The Solution

We designed the storefront and fulfillment process as one connected system. Customers receive a cleaner buying experience, while each completed order moves directly into the next operational stage without requiring the team to rebuild it manually. Orders now move from purchase to picking and shipping without being manually re-entered, while inventory, tax, and shipping rules update automatically.

What We Built

A conversion-focused ecommerce storefront
A clearer product and category structure
Automated order-to-fulfillment handoffs
Shipping and tax rules that apply automatically
Live inventory synchronization across sales channels
A workflow that supports greater volume without greater administrative complexity

Business Value Created

The company can now process two and a half times the monthly order volume with a fraction of the labor. Fulfillment is no longer the constraint on growth. Employees spend less time copying information between systems, order errors are reduced, and added sales no longer automatically create a need for added administrative staff.

We went from five people processing approximately 200 orders per month to one person handling 500.
